Sgt. Morgan W. Strader

Sgt. Morgan W. Strader

Born:  18 July 1981.  Killed in action 12 November 2004.

Morgan Strader joined the Marine Corps in July 2000 after graduating from Cumberland County High School in Crossville, TN.

He served with the 2nd Platoon, Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton, CA.  Sgt Strader was on his second tour of duty in Iraq when he was killed in action while fighting in the second battle of Fallujah.  He died while protecting his platoon and the convoy his platoon was escorting.

In the beginning stages of forming a new Marine Corps League Detachment in the Crossville/Cumberland County area the organizers wanted to honor and name the Detachment after a local Marine who had fallen in combat.

After a search and with the permission of Sergeant Strader's parents and a unanimous vote of prospective members, Marine Corps League Sgt. Morgan W. Strader Detachment #1467 would come official on June 29th. 2019.

It's with pride and honor that we add his name in memorium to our Detachment.  Semper Fi Sergeant Strader.
